Emerging from the tranquil enclave of Tirur in Malappuram, Kerala, Nida Anjum Chelat, a 21-year-old equestrian prodigy, has etched her name in the annals of history as the pioneering Indian to triumph in the Equestrian World Endurance Championship race for Juniors and Young Riders. Spanning an arduous 120 kilometers through the challenging terrain of Castelsagrat, France, this remarkable feat not only attests to her remarkable skill but also underscores her unwavering dedication.
Nida’s extraordinary odyssey into the realm of equestrian sports commenced during her formative years in Dubai, a journey made possible by the unwavering support of her parents, Dr. Anvar Ameen Chelat and Minnath Anvar Ameen, who wholeheartedly embraced her dream upon discovering her profound affinity for horse riding. Her bond with these majestic creatures flourished in tandem with her aspirations of ascending to the pinnacle of equestrian excellence.
Participating in the Equestrian World Endurance Championship alongside her steadfast companion, Epsilonn Salou, was an undertaking that transcended mere athletic prowess, demanding an intimate and unbreakable rapport between rider and steed.
At the outset, the competition boasted a roster of 70 contenders representing 25 diverse nations, yet as the race unfolded, 33 horses fell by the wayside. Undeterred, Nida’s indomitable resolve and her profound trust in her equine partner propelled her through the crucible of all four stages of the race. She secured a commendable 23rd position in the initial stage, improved to 26th in the second, maintained her poise at 24th in the third, and culminated her journey with a stellar 21st-place finish in the final stage, thus etching her name in Indian sporting history as the vanguard of this remarkable achievement.
Buoyed by her resounding success, Nida now embarks on a path of relentless training, leaving no doubt that the equestrian world can expect even greater exploits from this gifted young rider in the days to come.
